c. to use different venues in Bristol and the South West with licensed bars to create an informal club atmosphere and to draw in new audiences.
d. to use musicians without prejudice of race, sex, age or creed, based purely on musical skill and creativity, to pay all musicians equally and fairly.
e. to encourage the broadest possible audiences regardless of race, sex, age, creed or musical knowledge, and to further offer subsidised admission for senior citizens, low income claimants, registered disabled and Musicians Union members and cheap/free admission to children under fifteen.
f. to provide free email newsletters of RMC and other unusual cultural and little publicised cultural arts events, and to develop an interactive website to facilitate communication between artists and audience nationally and internationally.
g. the purpose to broaden the possibilities of hearing live non-commercial and rarely heard uncategorisable musical projects in the South West, to educate and stimulate new musical interests and understanding, to challenge stylistic preconceptions and misconceptions, to entertain and culturally enrich the South West, and to encourage and work with similar initiatives by local and visiting musicians, multi-media artists and promoters to promote these same aims.
h. to trade on a non profit-making basis and to aim to achieve status as a registered charity.
RMC may elect working Committees which shall operate under such terms as the RMC may from time to time determine. The number of members of any Committee and its composition shall be determined by RMC but shall include all Officers of RMC. RMC may also appoint Sub-Committees as it may deem necessary.
RULES OF RMC
Rule 1 - Friends
Each Friend shall be required to pay an Annual Membership Fee. The Membership Fee and terms shall be reviewed annually at the Annual General Meeting. Any Friend found to have behaved in a manner damaging to the interests of RMC shall be expelled.
Rule 2 - Meetings
The Annual General Meeting of RMC Officers shall be held each year on or around 1 September, the date to be set by the Secretary and agreed by all Officers.
RMC shall be entitled to adopt such further rules as it may deem necessary to fulfil its aims and objectives provided however that such rules are not contrary to English Law or contrary to the Constitution and Rules of RMC.
The Committee shall meet at such times as shall be decided from time to time
by the Officers thereof but no less than three meetings shall be held in any
one year.
The Chairman shall be entitled to convene special general meetings of RMC Officers to deal with any urgent business pertaining to RMC.
The Annual General Meeting shall include reports and a general discussion on the business and affairs of RMC.
Rule 3 - Finance
All monies and funds of RMC shall be deposited as soon as possible after receipt in such Bank as RMC may by resolution designate. The name of RMC shall be designated for Bank account purposes. All cheques and withdrawals of funds
on behalf of RMC shall be signed by the Chairman and Secretary. Proper books or accounts shall be maintained up to date at all times.
Rule 4 - Duties
a. Chairman: The Chairman shall preside at all meetings of RMC and
Committees and shall see to it that the decisions are put into effect. The Chairman shall be responsible for fund-raising, programming, musician contracts, venue hire, marketing and media and all necessary administration of RMC.
b. Secretary: The Secretary shall assist the Chairman and, in the absence of the Chairman, carry out the functions of the Chairman.
c. The Secretary shall also act as Treasurer: The Treasurer shall utilise the funds of RMC in such a manner as the Committee may from time to time direct and no expenditure of the funds of RMC shall be made unless previously authorised by RMC. The Treasurer shall present a statement of accounts and Balance Sheet at the AGM.
f. Artistic Director: The Artistic Director shall be responsible for suggesting musical programmes and musicians for booking and to make initial contact with a view to hire. The Artistic Director will further endorse or reject suggested venues, act as compere for RMC events and engage in any public profile duties as required by the Committee.
g. Assistant Artistic Director: To assist the Artistic Director and to carry out any clerical tasks as requested by the RMC Committee.
Rule 5 - Interpretation and Amendment of Constitution
RMC is the sole authority for the interpretation of this Constitution and of any rule.
Any proposed alteration or amendment to this Constitution and Rules shall be submitted in writing to the Secretary. Any alteration or amendment to these Constitution and Rules will require to be carried by a signed majority of all Officers.
